The Skyranger Nynja kit-build microlight, designed by Flylight Airsports at Sywell Aerodrome, is one of the most popular 3-axis microlights in existence. For us, it was the obvious choice of aircraft for our project.
Check out our build page to learn more about the Nynja, and the modifications we plan on making to help us circumnavigate the globe.
As we start our build, we’ll also post updates and our overall progress on our build page.
Once our Nynja is complete, we plan to fly it around the world. No small feat for a 300kg microlight we built ourselves!
At this stage in our planning, we aim to head west, crossing the North Atlantic toward North America, before turning south, toward the equator. Our route will take us on a journey of more than 30,000 nautical miles – more than 55,000km – through 40 countries, over several months.

At the age of six, I dreamt of becoming a pilot. My dream of circumnavigating the globe by plane wasn't too far behind.
Supported by my incredible family, I have made the first part of my dream a successful reality.
Around the World at 80 Knots is about realising the second part.
